Williamson Road Pump Replacement

Spicer Group provided the survey, design and construction inspection for the Williamson Road Pump Station Replacement project in Bridgeport Charter Township. The original triplex drypit station was installed in late 1959 and in March 2012 a pump failure caused the station to flood. The submersion severely damaged the pumps and all electrical equipment in the drywell. This project included the replacement of all three pumps with drypit submersible pumps and provided new electrical and controls for the station, which includes variable frequency drives. The station’s firm pump capacity was increased from 1,500 gpm to 2,400 gpm. The station is now controlled by ultrasonic level control with back-up floats provided. The improvements included installing a bypass pumping connection, a new Mission alarm/SCADA system, and a portable generator receptacle.
