Bedford Township Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvements

Monroe County Bedford Township Wastewater Treatment Plant was constructed in 1971. The plant expanded in 1978 and again in 1994. The majority of the equipment is at the end of its useful life and is inefficient, which results in significant water and electric bills. Several of the key structural components for the plants are also very old and in need of improvements.

Spicer Group was hired to first conduct an evaluation of all structural components, including all piping, electrical, pumping and treatment systems. Spicer Group then completed a report that detailed all deficiencies throughout the plant and provided estimated costs to update or replace these deficiencies. The report helped the Monroe County Drain Commissioner plan for needed improvements in a prioritized and efficient way. Spicer Group was then hired to design several of the identified improvements which included replacing the existing barminuters with mechanical screening and replacing the existing grit and influent pumping systems that are now located inside a new headworks building.
