Fourth St. Pump Station Replacement

Spicer Group provided the survey, design and construction inspection for the Village of Chesaning’s Fourth Street Pump Station Replacement project. The original drypit station was installed in the late 1950’s and needed replacement and relocation further west to prepare for future road widening. Two new submersible pumps were installed in a new 7-foot diameter, 25-foot deep concrete wet well and a prefabricated fiberglass housing was provided to house the valves and flow meter above ground. The station’s firm pump capacity remained at 250 gpm. Stainless steel guiderails were installed for removing and installing the pumps without having to enter the wet well. The pumps were equipped with soft starts and pump operation is controlled by a pressure transducer with back-up floats provided. The improvements also included equipping the station with an autodialer alarm system and an onsite 20 kW natural gas generator.
