Smith Consolidated Drain Detention Basin

Spicer Group led the design and construction oversight for a series of stormwater improvements within the Smith Consolidated Drain drainage district, that included enhancing the detention basin capacity and performance to reduce localized flooding and extend the life of existing infrastructure.

The enhancements included the reconstruction and expansion of the existing detention basins, including the design of stormwater detention within an MDOT cloverleaf interchange and the improvement of detention facilities located between Okemos and Hullett Road. These basins were redesigned to better manage runoff volumes, incorporate water quality features, and work in tandem with other drainage infrastructure upgrades.

Spicer Group coordinated all phases of design, permitting, landowner outreach, and construction administration to deliver a resilient and sustainable stormwater system.
