Dixie Pump Station Improvements

The Dixie Pump Station is located just outside the road right-of-way in front of the Historical Village of Bridgeport Township in Saginaw. The existing pump station was built in 1960 and consisted of a 9-foot diameter concrete wet well with three individual influent lines, a 10.5-foot diameter metal drywell, two Smith & Loveless sewage pumps, a control panel, and a 10-inch diameter asbestos cement forcemain.  In 1983, a third Smith & Loveless sewage pump was added to the station, as well as an emergency pumping connection manhole and a parallel 10-inch diameter ductile iron forcemain. On January 21, 2018, the pump station’s metal drywell was hit by a vehicle. The exterior of the drywell and some exterior wiring and conduits were damaged. Due to the age of all components being 35 to 58 years old lead paint was an issue and also alternative options to bollars since the County Road Commission regulations prohibit the installation of bollards in the right-of-way. Spicer Group also provided engineering and design, bid assistance, construction administration and inspection services for the project.
