ROGERS CITY FIRE DEPARTMENT NO. 1

Spicer Group worked with the Rogers City Area Fire Department to design a new 12,000-square-foot replacement for Fire Station No. 1. The existing station was small and outdated for a department operating with 30 volunteer personnel, two engines, one large tender, one tanker, one grass truck, one light rescue vehicle, and a water-rescue boat and equipment.

The new pre-engineered metal building includes architectural enhancements and features five 80-foot, drive-thru apparatus bays with capacity to expand by an additional bay in the future. The interior layout accommodates up to 40 firefighters and provides dedicated spaces for turnout gear, training, locker rooms, offices, archive storage, workout space, laundry, dispatch, and hose and SCBA equipment storage. A training room and administrative offices are also included.

The project was funded through a commercial loan. The COVID-19 pandemic created significant complications in bidding, material procurement, and construction sequencing, but the project was successfully completed in November 2022.
