Sebewaing Water Distribution System Water Main Replacement

The Village of Sebewaing’s water distribution system is operated by Sebewaing Light and Water. To improve the system’s reliability and replace older water main that was in poor shape, the Village replaced water main lengths along Sharpsteen Street, Bay Street, Washington Street, and Frederick Street.

Spicer Group was hired to design the replacement and installation of more than 2,900 linear feet of 8-inch water main in the Village. On an easement, water main was also installed through an open field between Miller Street and Center Street, and crossing Center Street to the east side of the road to create a water main loop to assist in system reliability and pressures. Due to lack of room, much of the water main was placed down the center of the roads, which were then milled and resurfaced. Once designed, the construction on the project took place in phases. Spicer was also responsible for topographic survey, easement assistance, bidding assistance, and construction administration.
