LAND SURVEY TECHNICIAN

  • Our survey team is seeking a full-time Survey Technician with varying levels of experience in our Saginaw office. We are looking for highly motivated individuals capable of performing a variety of surveying tasks, including but not limited to: site and highway construction layout, MDOT design surveys, control surveys, precision industrial surveying, ALTA and topographic surveys. Must be capable of working on a survey crew utilizing the latest in robotic, GPS and laser scanning technology. The survey technician is the perfect position for someone looking to build a long-term professional career in surveying and earn their way to crew chief and be a future team leader. Hourly pay for this position ranges from $18-$22/hr. depending on experience, and ample opportunity for overtime.

  • • Works as a member of a survey crew assisting the Crew Chief when performing boundary, topographic, ALTA, right of way, and construction surveys for public, private, and governmental clients

    • Responsible for assisting in the operation and maintenance of survey equipment, taking field notes, data collection, performing calculations, and working with staff on various projects

    • Maintains basic operation knowledge of survey instruments required to perform surveys as directed by the Crew Chief and project managers

    • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions; able to perform basic math skills

    • Performs physically demanding work in all types of weather and terrain

    • Knowledgeable of and/or experienced in the following:

    • Traffic control and safety procedures for a variety of surveying and construction operations

    • Cutting and clearing brush and trees from line of survey

    • Placing stakes at designated points and driving them into the ground

    • Marking points of measurement with elevation, station number, wooden marker, and/or property iron

    • Making measurements and various units of measurements

    • Cleaning, care, and use of a variety of surveying tools and equipment

    • Principles of surveying and construction layout

    • Maintains professionalism on the job (e.g. attire, honesty, and respect for personal property)

    • Must be able to travel locally and nationally based on project demands, with approximately 50% travel

    • Per diem and lodging is provided for all travel assignments

    Physical presence is an essential function of this job.

  • • High school diploma or equivalent

    • Certified Survey Technician Level I or higher (CST) a plus

    • Entry-level to mid-level technical position
