Spicer Group Announces 2026 Spring Promotions
Mike Niederquell, PE, named as a new Principal
Spicer Group is proud to announce the recent promotion of Mike Niederquell, PE, to Principal. Mike was hired at Spicer Group in 2013, coming to us with 16 years of previous experience. He was originally hired as a Project Manager and Director of Transportation Engineering in our Transportation Service Line. He currently serves as a Highways, Roads and Streets Practice Lead. Mike was an Associate until 2015, when he was promoted to Senior Associate. Then in 2019, he became a Shareholder in the company. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering in 1998, followed by a master’s degree in Civil Engineering in 1999, with both degrees secured at Michigan State University. He became a licensed professional engineer in Michigan in 2003, followed by licensing in Georgia in 2025, and Ohio in 2026.
Spicer Group is proud to announce the recent promotion of Darrin Wilson, PS, to Principal. Darrin came to Spicer Group in 2021 with 15 years of previous experience. He was hired in as a Project Surveyor in our Survey Practice Area and currently serves as the Geospatial Director for Spicer. Darrin earned his bachelor’s degree in Survey Engineering Technology in 2023 from the University of Maine and became a licensed professional surveyor in Michigan that same year. He was named an Associate with Spicer in 2023, with a promotion to Senior Associate and, subsequently, Shareholder in 2024.

Jenny Allen named as a new Associate
Spicer Group is proud to announce the recent promotion of Jenny Allen as a new Associate. Jenny has 30 years with Spicer Group, being hired in 1996 as a Designer. She was promoted in 2024 to Technical Manager in our Transportation Service Line.
Sam Bialorucki, GISP, named as a new Associate
Spicer Group is proud to announce the recent promotion of Sam Bialorucki, GISP, as a new Associate. Sam has been with Spicer since 2015, when he was hired as a GIS Technician. He is currently the GIS Practice Lead in our Geospatial Service Line. Sam attended Central Michigan University, earning a bachelor’s degree in Geographic Information Science in 2015.
Chris Briggs, PE, named as a new Associate
Spicer Group is proud to announce the recent promotion of Chris Briggs, PE, as a new Associate. Chris was hired in 2024 with 9 years of previous experience working for the Florida Department of Transportation. He joined Spicer as a Construction Engineer and was recently promoted to the position of Regional Manager in our Construction Service Line. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Central Florida in 2016. Chris became a licensed professional engineer in 2020.
Steve Coates named as a new Associate
Spicer Group is proud to announce the recent promotion of Steve Coates as a new Associate. Steve came to Spicer to work as a Crew Chief in 2019 with 30 years of previous experience. He was recently promoted to Regional Manager in our Geospatial Service Line. Steve holds a Georgia Surveying Certificate from Middle Georgia College.
Patrick Craig named as a new Associate
Spicer Group is proud to announce the recent promotion of Patrick Craig as a new Associate. Patrick was hired at Spicer in 2002 as a CAD Technician. In 2011, he was promoted to Senior Designer, with a 2024 promotion to his current position as Technical Manager in our Surface Water Service Line. He earned an associate’s degree in Computer Aided Drafting Technology from ITT Technical Institute in 2000.
Mike Errante named as a new Associate
Spicer Group is proud to announce the recent promotion of Mike Errante as a new Associate. Mike has been with Spicer Group for 29 years. He was hired in 1997 as a CAD Technician and has worked as our Lead CAD and LiDAR Technician, currently with the title of Technical Manager in the Geospatial Service Line. Mike earned an associate’s degree in Mechanical Design Technology in 1998.
Wendy Kathrens named as a new Associate
Spicer Group is proud to announce the promotion of Wendy Kathrens to Associate. Wendy joined the firm in 2001 and celebrates 25 years with Spicer in 2026. She is currently a Project Administrative Manager. Wendy holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Central Michigan University.
Ryan Loney named as a new Associate
Spicer Group is proud to announce the recent promotion of Ryan Loney as a new Associate. Ryan was hired in 2014 as an IT Technician, getting promoted to Information Technology Manager in 2022. Since 2025, he has served as our Director of IT. Ryan earned his associate’s degree in Computer Science from Delta College.
Tanya Moore, PLA, CPSI, ASLA, named as a new Associate
Spicer Group is proud to announce the recent promotion of Tanya Moore, PLA, CPSI, ASLA, as a new Associate. Tanya has a total of 34 years of experience, coming to Spicer in 2006 with 14 previous years in the industry. She is currently the Practice Lead for our Parks & Recreation Practice Area. Tanya earned her bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture from Michigan State University in 1993. She became a licensed Professional Landscape Architect in 1998.
Joe Primeau, PE, named as a new Associate
Spicer Group is proud to announce the recent promotion of Joe Primeau, PE, as a new Associate. Joe was hired by Spicer in 2023 as a Project Engineer and received a promotion in 2024 to Project Manager in our Drinking Water & Wastewater Service Line. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Michigan State University in 2009. Joe became a licensed professional engineer in Michigan in 2021, having previously held the same licensure in Oregon since 2014.
Lucas Richardson, PE, named as a new Associate
Spicer Group is proud to announce the recent promotion of Lucas Richardson, PE, as a new Associate. Lucas was hired by Spicer Group in 2018 as a Design Engineer before being elevated to Project Manager. He was recently promoted to the position of Regional Manager within our Drinking Water & Wastewater Service Line. Lucas earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with an Environmental Engineering minor from Trine University in 2018. He became a licensed professional engineer in Michigan in 2022.
Ryan Sullivan, PE, named as a new Associate
Spicer Group is proud to announce the recent promotion of Ryan Sullivan, PE, as a new Associate. Ryan was hired at Spicer in 2019 as a Construction Engineer, with a promotion to Design Engineer in 2020. He became a Project Engineer in 2023, getting a promotion to his current role of Regional Manager in our Transportation Service Line in 2026. Ryan earned a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Michigan in 2018. He became a licensed professional engineer in Michigan in 2024, as well as in Ohio and Georgia in 2025.
