Steih Park

After receiving a 2022 Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund Development Grant for $269,400, Monitor Charter Township decided to improve Herbert West Steih Memorial Park, located just off the Kawkawlin River. The park originally had few amenities and was experiencing erosion along the riverbank. Spicer Group was hired by the Township to provide survey, engineering design, and construction administration services for the park improvements, which included parking lot upgrades, a pavilion, a concrete ramp for launching canoes and kayaks, new benches and picnic tables, landscaping, and interpretive signage. Additionally, new fishing lunkers were installed to help stabilize the bank and prevent erosion.
