Senior Project Architect (All Michigan Locations)

This position is for a full-time, seasoned Senior Project Architect within the Planning and Architecture Service Group at Spicer Group. We are looking for a candidate with the dual ability to lead projects and support the Architectural team.

• Manage project teams in multiple sectors, while establishing and monitoring work schedules
• Maintain client relations
• Review and track project budgets, profits, and staff productivity
• Mentor architectural staff
• Outreach to potential clients and partners
• Participate in firm management tasks including the assignment of staff, review and development of project contracts, participation in annual strategic business plan development, and assistance in employee performance reviews

• You have 8+ years of technical experience in architecture
• A professional architectural degree from an accredited college or university
• You have a Registered architectural license
• A Track record of successfully leading projects
• Business management experience is preferred
• You have persuasiveness and tenacity in pursuing opportunities

Community Planner

This full-time position is for a Community Planner in our Planning & Architecture group within either our East Lansing or Saginaw office. We are looking for a self-motivated individual who is excited about joining a great team of dedicated professionals that help Michigan communities throughout the State.

• College graduate who has an urban and regional planning background and studied aspects of community master planning, local zoning, transportation planning, GIS mapping, site and neighborhood design, urban design, community engagement, economic development, downtown development, and demographic research and analysis.
• Highly motivated, well organized, detail oriented, personable, and eager to learn and grow while working on community planning projects for cities, townships, villages, and counties throughout Michigan.
• Workload includes projects focusing on master plans, zoning ordinances, land use, recreation planning, corridor planning, grant writing, and various other client-based projects.
• This position involves in-state travel and the candidate should anticipate attendance at night meetings.
• Excellent written and verbal skills and be familiar with Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, and ArcGIS.

• You have a Bachelor’s degree in urban planning or related field, or
• You have one to five years of experience in community planning or a related field, or
• You have an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• You have the background that demonstrates the ability to synthesize the various aspects of community planning, such as the legal, historical, social, institutional, and architectural frameworks of the practice, and apply them to everyday planning problems.
