Village of Merrill Pump Station Rehabilitation
The Village of Merrill partnered with Spicer Group to rehabilitate its aging sanitary sewer pump station, originally constructed in 1971. Spicer provided design, bidding assistance, and construction administration services, including preparation of detailed plans and technical specifications, coordination with regulatory agencies, and inspection support throughout the project.
The dry well pump station, equipped with a wet well and bypass pumping capabilities, had experienced increasing maintenance costs due to the buildup of rags and disposable wipes, which frequently clogged the pumps. Following a detailed evaluation—including ultrasonic thickness testing of the dry well—Spicer recommended a full rehabilitation. The Village moved forward with the improvements based on these findings, and Spicer led the design phase, permitting process (including the EGLE Part 41 permit), and coordination with local agencies to bring the project to construction.
