City of Marquette Bridge Inspection

The National Bridge Inventory (NBI) requires Bridge Safety Inspections be performed in the City of Marquette at not more than 24-month intervals on its three structures that meet the NBI bridge definition. The City hired Spicer Group to perform these inspections on three bridges throughout the area. The first located on County Road 550 over the Dead River sits next to a historical pedestrian bridge and is a 3 span that is 193.9 feet in length and 40.4 feet in width and is a curved-chord through girder structure. The second bridge off Lake Shore Boulevard over the Dead River which is 91.9 feet in length and 49.9 feet in width and the last, also part of Lake Shore Boulevard, crosses Whetstone Creek at a total length of 25.6 feet and width of 40 feet. All of the bridges had safety inspections completed in accordance with NBI and MDOT requirements, updated bridge inspection reports, immediate notice of of any items that may be cause for bridge closure or immediate repair and submitted summaries of the bridge’s condition.
