Delta Dental Expansion

Spicer Group was responsible for providing all site engineering including the study, preliminary design and final design of all utilities, site grading, parking lots, access road, pond crossings, landscaping, site lighting, and storm water management design.

In addition to providing the site engineering for the project, Spicer designed unique storm water management features that enhance the natural beauty of the 57-acre piece of property and contributed to Delta Dental being awarded a gold-level Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification. Unique storm water management features included new bioswales and rain gardens designed to collect and filter storm water runoff from parking areas. An existing detention basin on the west side of the property was enlarged by over an acre and enhanced with native wetland features to provide increased wildlife habitat. Another unique feature that was constructed is a first-flush basin which is designed to collect the first half-inch of storm water runoff from the site. Established native wetland species in the first-flush basin filter out harmful sediment and pollutants including oil, gas, and fertilizers that accumulate in the runoff.
