Cliff Spicer’s Legacy Continues
2019 was an exciting year for Spicer Group as we celebrated our 75 years of success. Looking back, Cliff Spicer started this company in 1944 in Saginaw out of his house and accomplished his engineering work with three other staff. Our staff has grown to close to 250 professionals, and we now have eight offices across Michigan and an office in Georgia. Cliff concentrated mainly on county drains in his early years and now we provide solutions to just about any engineering, surveying, architectural, or community planning need possible. It’s impossible to describe in a couple of sentences all the amazing projects we’ve completed, but a quick look at the Projects section of our website will give you a much better idea in detail.
From surveying transits to aerial drones, and compasses to 3D modeling, a lot can happen in 75 years, and I doubt Cliff Spicer could have projected the advances in technology that we have invested in and incorporate into our business today. But I also doubt that he’d be surprised in Spicer’s success since we continue to incorporate his values of having good employees and always trying to give good service and do good work.
Past president Jim Curtis says it best, “People throughout the state recognize Cliff Spicer as one that stood for competence, integrity, and quality. I know that our adherence to quality solutions and quality service is what will continue to move us forward successfully. No matter what product we deliver, we cannot survive without our quality.”
We are excited for what 2020 has to bring.
