Saginaw Sanitary Sewer App

Spicer Group recently worked with Saginaw Charter Township’s Department of Public Works (DPW) to develop a mobile database application for the department’s sanitary sewer system maintenance program.

In previous years, DPW employees would carry large paper plans that held maps and information on the Township’s sanitary sewer system to job sites. These papers would often deteriorate, getting stained and torn.

Spicer Group consulted with the Township’s DPW staff and tailored the mobile app to their specific needs. The app allows instant accessibility to accurate information on the sanitary sewer system at the touch of an iPad screen.

Database Application features include:

  • Digital scans of the Township’s entire sanitary sewer system as-built plans

  • Links to GPS and GIS systems

  • Information on the system’s various features

  • Integration of Sewer Line – Rapid Assessment Tool (SL-RAT) readings

  • Ability to link pipe inspection videos for viewing

  • Ability to record and report on each issue identified and repaired within the system, upload photos, locations of issues, and even document who was on site.

  • Ability to perform an asset assessment of the system based on risk of failure and consequence of failure and the ability to rank the most urgent maintenance issues within the system
